"I learned something from martial arts that no other activities could teach: self confidence. I quickly learned and continually relearned that in order to succeed you need to be focused and self evaluate. Of course I always had an instructor and parents that I turned to for assistance, but team sports and school did not reinforce that I could set small goals and continually accomplish them myself if I worked hard and stayed focused.

Amazingly my martial art experience has added a level of success in my life that could not have been predicted. At my college interviews, at my medical school interviews, and at my job interviews inevitably we discuss martial arts. Although it is just a few lines on my resume, today, everyone has some experience with martial arts that they want to share, whether it relates to themselves or their children. There is no doubt in my mind that this facilitated my entry into Princeton University for college and Harvard University for residency. In fact, I once had a discussion with a fellow black belt student who stated that during his interview for an accounting position all he discussed was the line on his resume 2nd Degree Black Belt. Later he was informed that what landed him the job was his common ground with his interviewer who respected him for accomplishing a goal that he knew took time and self discipline.

I believe that today's society, represented by college or a job, looks for well rounded personalities that handle themselves confidently under pressure or in front or a crowd. And while like most children I had many commitments when I was younger, martial arts has been the one that has prepared me the most for challenges in life. I cannot imagine better training for success than what this program did for me and can do for you. A father of two of my students once told me that both of his sons' solo performances outside of martial arts were notably better than all of their peers. Other parents asked him what he did to instill such confidence in them. He told them, as he did me, that long term training in our martial arts was no doubt the key to their success. Good luck in training."
