Master Eric J. Albrecht, M.D. - Owner & Chief Instructor

Dr. Eric Jacob Albrecht has over 20 years of taekwondo experience, 5 years of Karate and 3 years of Gracie Jiu-jitsu. Dr. Albrecht began his martial art career in 1985 at the age of 10 under the instruction of Mr. Tim Mehrtens. Three years later he achieved his 1st degree black belt, a year later his trainee instructor status. He was ranked in the ATA’s Top Ten in the country at the age of 15, placing 8th in the 14-16 year old division. That following year he competed in the adult division of 17-32, at the age of only 16. Finishing in the Top Four in the country that year he was eligible to compete for the Title of World Champion in 1992 held in Little Rock, AR. Reaching the finals, the youngest competitor in the entire adult division, Albrecht lost in the finals finishing second place that year. After his original instructor left the ATA, Albrecht then began training under Thomas Guerin. Determined to return to the finals, Albrecht dominated the tournament circuit in 1993, losing only once in 33 tournament matches. Again reaching the Top Four at the age of 17 Albrecht won his first World Title in the Men’s 1st Degree ages 17-32. During that time Albrecht was a starting defenseman for East Brunswick high school varsity soccer team that captured multiple county titles and was state runner up in 1992. Albrecht also is an accomplished cellist who was part of several regionally selected orchestras. In June of 1993 Albrecht graduated from East Brunswick High School in the top 1% of his class and decided to attend Princeton University. In 1994 Albrecht returned to the World Champion Finals as a 2nd degree and finished in second place. While at Princeton University, Albrecht majored in chemistry / Premed. He also began his training in full contact taekwondo (WTF) under the tutelage of Master Ji Ho Choi. Then in 1995 and 1996 Albrecht captured ATA World Titles in the Men’s 2nd Degree Division, as well as the WTF Big East Championships. After winning numerous NJ state titles in full contact Taekwondo, Albrecht competed in the WTF Nationals in Atlanta, GA. In 1997 Albrecht claimed the World Title in the Men’s 3rd Degree Division, finished his college taekwondo career with one loss in four years leading Princeton to several Ivy League Tournament Taekwondo championships. Albrecht decided to open the Black Belt Academy in February of 1997 after being accepted to Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in New Brunswick, NJ. Later that same year Albrecht competed his thesis and graduated from Princeton with honors. In June of 1997, Albrecht captured his third consecutive World Title, fourth overall at the World Championships in Little Rock, AR, this time in the Men’s 3rd Degree Division. In 1998 Albrecht was honored by the ATA for having one of the top ten fastest growing schools in the country. In 2000, 2001, 2002, and 2003 Albrecht captured titles in the Men’s 4th & 5th Degree Division raising his total to nine. During his time, as an instructor, Albrecht has led his students to three World Titles and three weapons National Titles. Of note, Albrecht has the most sparring titles of any competitor in the history of the ATA. He received his 5th Degree Black Belt in June of 2004. In May of 2002 Albrecht received his M.D. and completed his residency in anesthesiology in 2006. Albrecht is also the only ATA competitor to win World Titles at the ranks of 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th degree Black Belt. In the Spring of 2006 Albrecht captured the World Championship in Forms and Sparring for the Men's 4th and 5th Degree Black Belts.

Mr. Christopher Snow - Head Instructor

Mr. Christopher Snow is a Certified ATA Instructor and the Head Taekwondo Instructor for ATA Martial Arts in Flemington, New Jersey. Mr. Snow has over 15 years of martial arts experience in the disciplines of Taekwondo, Krav Maga, and Jiu-Jitsu. He began his martial art career in 1996 under the instruction of World Champion, Master Tim Chewning. At the age of 8, Snow earned his 1st Degree Black Belt at which point he was a member of the SWAT (Special Winning Attitude Team). Snow's training enabled him to become captain of the Legends Martial Arts Demonstration Team. After enrolling in the Leadership Program, Mr. Snow became a certified instructor in all ATA Protech Weapons and Xtreme Martial Arts. Snow also trained at West Point, receiving certifications for gun and knife defense which he has used to help train many, including the Washington Township Police Department. He is a regional competitor and also certified as a chief judge. Mr. Snow is a NJ State Champ in Sparring and Traditional forms for the year 2010. After graduating from the leadership program in 2005, Snow also served as an assistant program manager for the ATA Martial Arts Academy in Monroe, NJ. In October of 2008, Mr. Snow earned the rank of 4th degree black belt. In his spare time Mr. Snow volunteers his time at the Monroe Township Volunteer Fire Department as a firefighter. Snow has also earned his First Aid and CPR/AED certifications through the Monroe Township Volunteer Fire Department. Throughout his high school years, Mr. Snow was an accomplished Varsity football player, setting two school records and excelled inside the classroom as an honor roll student. During the summer, Mr. Snow has been actively involved and dedicated to his community, holding and coaching football camps. Mr. Snow even toured with The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in New York City and Philadelphia. At ATA Martial Arts in Flemington, NJ, Mr. Snow hopes to enhance every student’s success using his moral - "Everyone is a winner, one step at a time."


Mr. Nitin Agarwal - Manager & Program Director

Mr. Nitin Agarwal is a Certified ATA Instructor and is currently the Program Director of ATA Martial Arts in Flemington, NJ. He has over 15 years of martial arts experience in the disciplines of Taekwondo, Tang Soo Do, Karate, Jiu-Jitsu, and Krav Maga. Mr. Agarwal began his martial art career in 1996. He earned his 1st Degree Black Belt in 1999, followed by his 2nd Degree Black Belt in 2001 under the tutelage of Master Wayne Materi in Fargo, North Dakota. In May of 2007, Agarwal graduated from The Lawrenceville School in Lawrenceville, NJ. Shortly after, in 2008, he earned in 3rd Degree Black Belt under the tutelage of Dr. Eric J. Albrecht, a 10 Time World Sparring Champion. Under the instruction of Dr. Albrecht, Mr. Agarwal also earned his Chief Judge certifications for ATA sanctioned tournament competitions. Outside of martial arts, Mr. Agarwal is set to graduate from The College of New Jersey in May of 2011 with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. In the fall of 2010, Mr. Agarwal will also be attending medical school at New Jersey Medical School located at the University of Medicine and Dentistry in Newark, New Jersey. He aspires to become a surgeon. In his spare time, Mr. Agarwal has also dabbled with several musical instruments, including the piano, violin, and guitar. Agarwal has also enjoyed the sports of swimming, running, tennis, and soccer. Community service also has played a very important role in his life and will continue to do so as he becomes a medical professional. Academically, Mr. Agarwal has been involved in various research projects, including the synthesis, modulation, and analysis of nanoparticles at the School of Biomedical Engineering at Drexel University; the synthesis and analysis of cyanogels at Princeton University; and the study of preventive care for dietary caused diseases with The Eat Right America Foundation. Moreover, he has a passion for assisting others with academic and standardized testing tutoring. Agarwal also holds the following certifications awarded by the American Red Cross: CPR/AED For The Professional Rescuer, Oxygen Administration For The Professional Rescuer, and Lifeguarding/First Aid. Nevertheless, despite a loaded schedule, Mr. Agarwal is deeply dedicated to martial arts and strives to earn his 4th Degree Black Belt and extend his knowledge in the disciplines of Taekwondo, Krav Maga, and Jiu-Jitsu. Recently, Mr. Agarwal reestablished ATA Martial Arts in Flemington, New Jersey. Among his many goals for the students, staff, and families of the academy, Mr. Agarwal emphasizes his priority is to build a close-knit community that shares a common passion for the practice of martial arts.

Mr. Jack Weinstein - Certified Instructor

Mr. Weinstein is a certified ATA instructor and currently holds the rank of 3rd Degree Black Belt.  He began his taekwondo training 12 years ago under Master Eric Albrecht, M.D. He earned his first degree black belt in 2 years and was also a member of the SWAT (Special Winning Attitude Team.) In 2004 Mr. Weinstein won a State Championship in traditional forms and weapons. He was nationally ranked in the top ten for 1st degree black belts. Mr. Weinstein is a graduate of Hillsborough High School, and currently attends Susquehanna University. He participates in other sports such as wrestling and baseball.


Mr. Donnie Barnickel - Trainee Instructor

Mr. Donnie Barnickel is a 2nd Degree Black Belt who has been practicing Taekwondo at ATA Martial Arts in Flemington for 4 years. He started his training in 2007 at the age of 8 under the instruction of Mr. Torrey Hunt and Mr. Anthony Paglia. He has trained in the discipline of Taekwondo, including forms, sparring, and weapons, as well as the newer techniques of Xtreme Martial Arts (XMA), and Creative Forms. Mr. Barnickel starting competing in ATA’s regional tournaments in August of 2008, and achieved a top-ten rating in the Color-Belt Division in 2009. For the 2010 season, he competed in the American Taekwondo Association’s National Tournament, achieving first place in Weapons, second place in Traditional Forms, and second place in Sparring. He was a NJ State Champ in Creative Forms for 2010 and is currently NJ State Champ in Creative and Traditional Forms for 2011. Mr. Barnickel enjoys assisting Taekwondo classes and continues to further his knowledge in Certified Instructor Training (CIT) classes so that one day he can lead an ATA class. Outside of martial arts, Mr. Barnickel loves soccer and running. In the Spring of 2009, Barnickel was selected to perform in the Children’s Chorus at Princeton’s McCarter Theater in Benjamin Britten’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”, performing alongside professional opera singers.
